Roads to Resilience
Supporting Midlands farmers to build resilient, profitable and sustainable businesses
Roads to Resilience is a three-year programme supporting Midlands farmers through practical advice, training and knowledge exchange. It sits within the wider partnership between Nestlé UK & Ireland and The Allerton Project, announced in January 2024, which was created to help build farmland resilience and support the transition to more sustainable, nature-friendly farming systems.
Managed by Ricardo in partnership with us and Andersons, and funded by Elm Tree Trust, Roads to Resilience takes a whole-farm approach to helping businesses respond to change, manage risk and identify new opportunities.
What the programme offers
The programme is designed to help farmers strengthen business, environmental and personal resilience through a combination of fully funded one-to-one advice, tailored workshops, accredited training and peer networking.
Participants receive business support from Andersons, alongside environmental and regenerative farming advice tailored to their own system and circumstances. This includes support around future planning, business structure, capital investment, diversification, grants and schemes, carbon, biodiversity and wider land management opportunities.
Workshops and events focus on practical resilience, covering topics such as soil health, regenerative farming, wildlife and habitats, environmental schemes and business planning.

Why this work matters
Nestlé UK & Ireland’s partnership with us reflects the importance of practical, locally relevant action in building resilience across agricultural supply chains. Through that partnership, farmers and suppliers connected to Nestlé can access practical land management advice, while Nestlé managers and decision-makers also benefit from training and knowledge exchange to better understand the realities, challenges and opportunities facing farming businesses.
Roads to Resilience is part of that wider ambition — helping farmers build stronger, more resilient and more sustainable businesses through trusted advice and practical support.
